About this donation

I have the pleasure to announce that I will be travelling to Kolkata, India for a six-month internship with the Mahima Homes beginning in February 2016. The Mahima Homes provide rehabilitation for minor girls rescued from human trafficking and has been under the direction of Smita Singh since its inception in 2009. I will be supporting the ministry as it expands the capacity of the second home and incorporates a Crisis Recovery Centre into its work. The Mahima Home program uses Christ-centred, trauma-informed care to rebuild the lives of young girls after being rescued from the sex trade.

I bring with me a heart of compassion and service. My journey has led me to work with children in Malawi, Cambodia, Costa Rica and locally in the Greater Toronto Area. Previously, I worked at a Children’s Mental Health Centre and an after school program for refugee children. I also spent two years working as a community mental health crisis worker in a hospital and with a mobile crisis response unit.I currently serve in a homeless youth drop-in centre and  in my private practice utilizing Expressive Art Therapy. I will bring with me the love of all art forms such as singing, dancing and face painting in clown.

I feel blessed for another opportunity to serve children who are broken and in need of safety and help. I will work with and learn from Smita to nurture these girls in the best way, showing them love and a hope for the future.

The internship is an unpaid position and will require me to provide crisis care intervention, art therapy as well as assisting in developing an exhaustive policy and procedures manual for the Mahima Homes. I ask that you consider assisting financially with this mission and please, keep us in your prayers.
