Bob Stevenson, Missions Chair of Bay Park Baptist Church, Kingston ON

Since 2008, Bay Park Baptist partnered with and supported Manoj Dey in his work with four of the unreached people groups in West Bengal, India. In July 2010, Manoj was killed leaving behind a wife and two young sons. After hearing this news, Bay Park Baptist Church made the decisions to continue to support Manoj’s wife, Anusua Dey, saying, “Our concern and commitment has been both for the family and the work that is being done.”

Manoj spoke highly in his letters of his wife saying, “My wife is working among the women and children and is a great help to me. Many are also blessed through her ministry”. Through the help and support of Bay Park, Anusua continues to work and serve among the same people that her husband did. She says, “It has been a joy for me to continue the ministry my husband was involved in. The seeds he has sown are bearing fruit”.

Bob Stevenson, the Missions Chair of Bay Park explains that, “the missions focus flows out of the Church Mission Statement “Building fully devoted followers of Christ”. We therefore encourage and challenge our people in the Church to build their faith by being personally involved in advancing the Kingdom of God outside the Church. Interacting with missionaries on a global basis allows people to understand and appreciate the scope and power of God’s methods for reaching the lost. An example of this is Anusua Dey in West Bengal who we have supported for a number of years in her work with village groups. Her courage and dedication after the death of her husband, Manoj, encourages us to follow our Lord day by day.

The impact of this is great. Anusua’s words say it all: “Thank you from the core of my heart for your faithful prayer and support for my family and ministry while my husband is resting in the Lord. I am so grateful to the Lord for the way He is leading me with my two sons and my mother-in-law.”

Partners International thanks Bay Park Baptist in Kingston, Ontario and the many other Canadians like them for their deep commitment to pray, encourage and support National Workers like Manoj and Anusua Dey. Workers that serve under the many ministries we partner with around the globe are making a difference in areas that would otherwise be hard to reach.
