Association of Independent Churches of Africa (AICA) – LIEN

About this donation

Liberia’s long and brutal civil war killed or displaced millions of people. After the war, many Liberian refugees returned home to find that their villages were completely destroyed. As a result they lack adequate housing, medical care, schools and clean water. For these Liberians, the constant fear of violence has been replaced with a dreary sense of hopelessness.

Rebuilding churches, restoring lives, rekindling hope

The Association of Independent Churches of Africa (AICA) seeks to establish healthy churches that liberate rural Liberians from spiritual darkness and extremely difficult social conditions, so they can experience a better quality of life.

  • AICA starts by providing specialized training for evangelists that prepare them to work in villages targeted for church planting.
  • Since the war, the ministry faces the task of rebuilding and repairing many damaged church buildings.
  • Healthy churches serve their communities by establishing schools, providing medical assistance and drilling wells that provide clean, safe water.
  • Care for child war orphans who need the basics of life — food, shelter and clothing — just to survive in a country where most still live without clean water and electricity.
  • Other assistance is offered through a vocational training program that provides skills to village women and church workers, enabling them to create self-sustaining sources of income for their families.

Tax receipts will be issued for gifts of $10 or more.
