About this donation
The UPHOLD Bethany Hospital was built on a 5-acre property and includes a sick ward, pharmacy, laboratory and surgery room. It also includes consultation and examination rooms where patients are seen by the doctor. Located in a rural area the hospital services thousands of tribal people each year. They specialize in ophthalmic care and cataract surgeries and treat 40 to 50 cases every day without charge to poor tribal patients.
The workers of Bethany Hospital strive to show the love of Christ to all people as they focus on areas of education, prevention of diseases, treatment and rehabilitation. It has two divisions:
- Family Health Care: staff conduct medical camps in remote villages to educate people on prevention measures and how diseases spread in the community. The hospital is also equipped with all the necessary equipment for the primary health care and villagers are brought in on a case by case basis.
- Eye Department: the staff of this department go to remote villages to do eye tests. Identified patients will be brought to the hospital, are educated on the procedures of the cataract surgery and the surgery is provided.
