Discovery Trip FAQ
Who should come?
Discovery Trips are generally open to all individuals over 18 years old, who have an interest in international development and global mission, and would enjoy an educational experience that is engaging, informative and adventurous. The Discovery Trips are not designed as a vacation or an eco-tourism experience but rather as an international learning participatory experience. Many participants go on to become engaged and supportive of the work they have seen and of indigenous holistic mission.
What will I see on a Discovery Trip?
You will be see our ministry partners in action, exploring their programs and impact. The Discovery Trip will provide you with an opportunity to assess the impact of holistic ministries in remote and under resourced regions of the world. You will gain a greater understanding of holistic mission and the unique challenges and needs of our indigenous partners. Additionally, you will be able to conduct a first-hand evaluation of the effectiveness of the work of Canadian-led, Partners International projects.
How is the trip conducted?
Discovery Trips are led by an experienced and senior Development professional of Partners International Canada with extensive knowledge of global mission. You will have the opportunity to visit remote and unique regions while staying at simple but safe local lodgings. All your meals will be a combination of traditional Western and local dishes in a healthy environment. During the educational portion of the trip, you will be able to meet and interact with the indigenous leaders, assess their programs and have your questions answered. Your group leader will be able to provide you context and background information to make the most of your experiences.
