HOLISTIC HEALING AT THE ART STUDIO
Andrea can hardly remember spending quality time with her mom growing up. As a single mother in Moldova, Andrea's mom struggled financially and was always searching for a better life abroad, leaving Andrea with her aunt, Vera.
Vera was the only person willing and able to care for Andrea, but she longed for her mom's love as a young girl. Saddened by her mother's decision to leave her time and again, Andrea felt hurt and unwanted.
The very last time Andrea's mother returned, she was overwhelmed with happiness, sure that this time her mom would stay. It was not long before her mother got involved in an unhealthy relationship, and Andrea watched her mother suffer mistreatment.
Andrea's mother eventually took her back to her aunts and left to work in Italy. Heartbroken and confused, Andrea became aggressive, dismissive of others, and closed herself off.
Vera learned about our Psychological Art Studio nearby. She came in looking for counselling help for Andrea.
At the most crucial point in her life, you provide Andrea, and girls like her in Moldova with rehabilitation through our art studio.
Our art studio is an initiative in Moldova that supports vulnerable, traumatized women and girls like Andrea with art therapy and psychological counselling to heal from past traumas. Activities at the studio aim to teach different artistic techniques, nurture individual talents and abilities, provide a safe environment to discuss moral and spiritual topics, renew perspectives, and even provide opportunities to earn an income.
We enrolled Andrea in our handcrafting art therapy group session. Little by little, Andrea became more friendly to the other teenagers in her group. She continued her meetings with the psychologist-counsellor. Andrea began to open up her inner world and share her negative feelings and emotions.
Today, Andrea is a happy and positive girl during the studio sessions and at home with her aunt. Vera, Andrea's aunt, shared, "One day when she came home after the session, Andrea cheerfully approached me and gave me a strong hug. At that moment, I understood that something started to change in her heart and mind."
"It was evident after our first counselling session that Andrea's aggressive behaviour was a wall of protection she built for herself. We saw a very insecure and vulnerable girl with low self-esteem and a lack of a good family model behind the wall. But I see many good and positive things in Andrea. She's a good tennis player and she has a dream to become a professional. Together we have succeeded in helping Andrea realize a positive attitude towards herself and future life."- Art Therapist
Andrea still attends the art studio in Moldova. She is still working on learning how to forgive her mother.
Thanks to your support, Andrea has made incredible improvements in her outlook on life and has continued support in her healing process.
Please pray for Andrea and other individuals like her to experience full restoration and realize the love of Jesus through their healing journey at the art studio.
