Background Info

We received the sad but not unexpected news of the passing of our beloved friend, Nicholas Narjinary. Nicholas was diagnosed with esophageal cancer several months ago.

After undergoing surgery, he was recuperating at his home in North Bengal, where he passed away peacefully on March 31st, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. He leaves behind his wife, Puspa, son Joshua (Meni) and daughters Loyee (Surgel) and Tabita. As well as his grandchildren Noel, Joana and Grace.

Nicholas was a humble and dedicated servant of God who made a tremendous impact over many decades for the cause of Christ in India. Many thousands of people found a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through the witness of Nicholas. Despite consistent opposition and challenges, his ministry established over 500 vibrant communities of faith, particularly among the impoverished tea plantation workers of North Bengal and Assam.

Nicholas was raised in a Christian family from the Bodo tribe. Orphaned at age 10, Nicholas had a tremendous heart for orphaned children and cared for many through the children’s home he established with his wife Puspa. He also worked with his son, Joshua, and daughter-in-law, Meni, to establish an English elementary and high school committed to excellence, serving 500 children from kindergarten to grade 12.

Thank you for your faithful friendship and long-time partnership as prayer warriors and financial partners to Nicholas’ ministry. Nicholas established a leadership team that is strong and healthy and will carry on the ministry he established. Our partnership will continue under the leadership of Joshua Narjinary.

Please continue to pray for the family and ministry. The church has lost a dearly loved leader and modern-day apostle. They need our continued encouragement and support.

This memorial fund is available to bless the ministry and the work that Nicholas set out
